Trivia about the Ortigas & Company, Limited Partnership
Ortigas & Company, Limited Partnership was established on July 10, 1931 to acquire a 4,000 hectare property known as Hacienda de Mandaloyon. This property spanned the municipalities that are now known as Mandaluyong, San Juan, Pasig and Quezon City. It laid in the geographical heart of present-day Metro Manila, bounded by Santolan Road in the north, San Juan River in the west, Pasig River in the south, and Marikina River in the east.
Under the stewardship of Atty. Francisco Ortigas, Jr., who was President of the Partnership from 1945 to 1988, the original Hacienda was transformed into a progressive industrial, commercial, and residential urban complex.
Today, Ortigas & Company, Limited Partnership takes pride in being known for establishing Ortigas Center, one of the oldest and busiest business districts in the Philippines and home to some of the biggest corporations of the country today.
The company’s expertise in planning and design in the 70’s & 80’s did not go unnoticed, and is showcased in various upscale residential projects that it developed, which include: the Greenhills subdivisions, Greenmeadows, Valle Verde and Wack-Wack. These subdivisions remain to be the most sought after residential subdivisions in the market today.
Ortigas & Company Limited Partnership is also the company behind the leader of value shopping in the Philippines, Greenhills Shopping Center – a landmark that has put the country in the international shopping map and the newly opened Tiendesitas at Frontera Verde is already gaining world-wide acclaim as another “must-stop” of tourists.
As it celebrates its 75th anniversary, Ortigas and Company, Limited Partnership reaffirms and fortifies its commitment to vision, hard work, and progress.
