1. Tumbang Preso – is a game that is distinctly Filipino. Three (3) players are needed for this game but having more players would be more challenging and fun. There must be an "it" player to defend the can from other players to prevent them from knocking the can down. Players usually use slippers when playing this game- When all the players shall have used up all their slippers without knocking down the can, the "ii" player chases everyone and tag who he/she wishes to become the new "it".

Trivia about the “Parisian Life” by Juan Luna

“Parisian Life”, also known as “Interior d’un Cafe” was painted in c 1892 by Juan Luna. The oil on canvass painting, 22 inches long ~ and 31 inches in width, and now housed at the GSIS Museum of fA Art-Pasay City, features three Filipino patriots – Jose Rizal, Juan Luna, and Ariston Bautista Lin. It was given by Juan Luna to Ariston Bautista Lin who kept it in his Quiapo house, site of the Propaganda and Katipunan movements.

1. Asian Fairy Bluebird (Irena puella) – Asian Fairy Bluebirds are common and conspicuous in forest canopy in lowlands and middle elevations, singly or in small groups. The male has a unique brilliant blue and velvety black plumage. This bird calls a loud series of snapping whistles wavering whip whip whip-aaww or weeep weeep weee paw.
2. Dwarf-Kingfisher (Ceyx lepidus) – Dwarf Kingfishers are uncommon in low understory of lowland forest, singly or in pairs, not usually associated with water. Very fast darting almost invisibly from perch to perch. Color above varies from bright cobalt blue to aqua blue. All blue upperparts and rufous yellow underparts separate it from Philippine Dwarf Kingfisher. They call high-pitched metallic pe-teeeet pe-teeeet while perched.

Trivia about the San Diego de Alcala Cathedral

The Parish of San Diego de Alcala was established in 1582 in its present site and was transferred to Silangan in the island of Alabat in 1638. It was burned by Dutch invaders in 1665 and reconstructed at its present site in 1846. It is bounded at the southeast by the municipality of Lopez, at the south by the sea, and at the northeast by the municipality of Plaridel, formerly a barrio of Atimonan. The first parish priest was either Fray Diego De Oropesa or Fray Esteban Ortiz of the Franciscan order.

Trivia about Philippine Birds VIII

1. Black-naped Oriole (Orio/us chinensis) – Black naped-Oriole are common and widespread in early second growth, open scrub and gardens, alone or in groups. It has a distinctive black and bright yellow plumage and its large size separates it from other species of orioles. This bird is fairly tame and noisy and can be heard from far away. Loud and pleasant pee-yaaaaooww or keeaaaooww call are repeated every few seconds often with several birds calling together.
2. Philippine Eagle (Pithecophaga jefferyi) – The Philippine Eagle is the national bird of the Philippines. It is uncommon in forests from lowlands to over 2000m, usually in mountainous areas. It hunts from within the forest canopy from perches. It has huge body size, broad but relatively short wings, long tail, nearly all white underparts including underwin. Stamps and Official First Day Covers will be available starting October 30, 2007 at the Philatelic Service, Door 203, Liwasang Bonifacio, 1000 Manila and at all Regional Offices of the Philippine Postal Corporation.

The Philippine Assembly was established in the Philippines pursuant to the Act of Congress of July 1, 1902 otherwise known as the Philippine Bill of 1902. A general election of members of the Philippine Assembly was held on July 30, 1907. The Nacionalista Party, the party that advocated "immediate and complete independence" headed by Sergio Osrnefia, captured the majority of the 80-seat Assembly.

On August 8, 1967 the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was established. It was first established with five members, namely, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Then on January 8, 1984, Brunei Darussalam joined, followed by Vietnam on July 28, 1995, Lao PDR and Myanmar on July 23, 1997 and Cambodia on April 30, 1999.
