Trivia about PASKO 2001
Kumukutikutitap, Choir Practice, Christmas Lights, and Pasko ni Bitoy.
Designed by Pepper Roxas. “Kumukrtikutital depicts the ubiquitous lanterns that light up Filipino homes during Christmas season. “I love parols, especially those kaleidoscope ones from Pampanga. They make Christmas more vibrant,” says Pepper, a favorite illustrator of the Museo Pambata. She has designed several best-selling Christmas cards for the museum since 1999 and is currently in the US as a Fulbright scholar in art studies.
The mischief of children is captured in “Christmas Light where a young boy smiles sneakily after getting caught up in a string of Christmas lights. lt was designed by Abigail Goy a member of Ang INK (llustrador ng Kabataan). More popularly known as Abi, she works as a full-time web designer but tries to illustrate children’s stories as often as she can. This former scientist-wannabe is glad she became an artist because, she says, she is happiest when illustrating an authors work especially if it is for children.
“Choir Practid’ designed by another Ang INK member. Jill Anren Posadas, is a colorful picture of happy youngsters dressed as angels rehearsing for a caroling session, Jill’s illustration work includes RCBC’s Kuwentong Kalikasan Katha ng Kabataan and the World Wildlife Fund’s workbooks and the Ang lNKuwento Postcard book. She works as a writer for a top FM station.
Conrad Raquel was fifteen when he drew “Pasko ni Bitoll’a reflection of how most children dream of Christmas. Conrad is a former member of Museo Pambata’s theater group for children and dreams of becoming a well-known artist someday. He is taking up Visual Communication at the University of the Philippines – College of Fine Arts.
Museo Pambata is the country’s premier interactive museum for children founded in 1994. Museo Pambata releases Christmas greeting cards every year to raise funds for its literacy campaign, AKLAT KKK (Karapatan, Kapangyarihan para sa Kabataan) (Books: The Right and Empowerment of the Youth) which bring’s books and story telling to depressed areas in Manila.
