Change and Wonder
Dasmariñas Metamorphosis Likened to a Butterfly
Paru-Paro Festival
The City of Dasmariñas has not in any degree established a festival having a specified focus. Most festivities in the Philippines are religious in nature which various barangays in the City of Dasamariñas honor and observe.
Prominent and noted Philippine Festivals to name a few are the Ati-Atihan of Kalibo, Aklan, Sinulog Festival of Cebu City, Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo City, Pahiyas Festival of Quezon and the Parada ng Lechon of Balayan, Batangas.
The paru-paro (known as Butterfly in English) is a universal symbol of change, transformation and celebration. The birth of butterfly starts with the egg and becomes a butterfly larvae (also known as caterpillar) where it grows quickly. After which, it sheds from its chrysalis and flies off to new life. It significantly resembles the City which started as a humble barrio of Imus, Cavite until it was declared a city last November 26, 2009. Its constituents, visitors and passers-by from manila and neighboring town and cities all witnessed the metamorphosis of the city in the same manner of the remarkable process of the birth of a butterfly.
In lieu of this, City Mayor Jennifer Austria-Barzaga and the Sagguniang Panlungsod of the City of Dasmariñas enacted Resolution No. 069-s-2011 and Special Ordinance 02-s-2011 declaring the PARU-PARO FESTIVAL as the Official Festival of the City of Dasmariñas, Cavite to be introduced and launched to the public on the Second Year Anniversary of the Cityhood of Dasmariñas on November 26, 2011. The Paru-Paro Festival shall be celebrated every 26th to November, during the Foundation Day of the City of Dasmariñas.
The City of Dasmariñas will ultimately be recognized for its marvelous metamorphosis though the Paru-Paro Festival. Watching Dasmariñas’ miracle of flight is such a fascinating sight. Now, fully developed, is ready to flutter its wing and fly.
