The leaves are leathery, acute, about 24 cm long and 5 cm wide The inflorescence is terminal, upright, slightly longer than the leaves, many flowered. The flowers are small in size, brick red, some with a greenish tint, sepals and petals pointing downward. The lip is recurved through ‘1 80″, with a darker color, bilobed; its margin is erose. The pollinarium has four pollinia. |
 | Spathoglottis plicata Spathoglottis plicata is a terrestrial orchid. The pseudobulbs are up to 7 cm long,and 5 cm wide. The leaves have length wisef olds (plicate),andare30to 120 cm long, and 3 to 9 cm wide; the petiole is 10 to 15 cm long, The infloresence is erect, up tp 75 cm tall. The flowers do not all open at the same time. The flowers are white, pale pink, rose to dark purple, 3 to 5 cm in diameter. The sepals are widely stretched out, up to about 25 mm long and 9 to 13 mm wide The petals are similar but slightly broader than the sepals. The lip is trilobed, having a callus between the side-lobes. The pollinarium has eight pollinia in two groups. |
