Stamps featuring the International year of the Forests

The Philippine Postal Corporation will issue a se-tenant pair of stamps to publicize the 2011 United Nations International Year of the Forests.

Designs: Winning photos in the contest conducted/sponsored by the United Nations Information Center (Manila) highlighting this year’s celebration of the International Year of the Forests. Stamp 1: Shows Batlag Falls in Tanay, Rizal captured by Prab Reyes which won the First Prize; Stamp 2: Shows a big tree in Pansol, Laguna captured by Karol France which won the Second Prize. The cache on the First Day Cover shows the landscape in Calaruega, Batangas photo taken by Proseso Sotillo which won the Third Prize.

The Philippine Postal Corporation is coming up with the 2011 United Nations Issue International Year of the Forests stamps, which will be issued on October 24, 2011. It is classified as a “Special” kind of issue with a denomination of P 7.00 and quantity of 70,000 pieces.

The United Nations General Assembly declared 2011 as the International Year of Forests to raise awareness on sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests. Read more

 

 

Stamps and Official First Day Covers will be available starting October 24, 2011 at the Postage and Philatelic Department, Manila Central Post Office,  Door 203, Liwasang Bonifacio, 1000 Manila and at all Regional Offices of the Philippine Postal Corporation.
