33'd President of the U.S. Succeeded F.D Roosevelt. He accepted the German Surrender. On April 25 his telephonedspeech opened the San Francisco Conference establishing the United Nations. Made a controversial decision to use the Atomic Bomb against Japan thus ending WWIl. As theCold War started, US declared to combat Communismthru Truman Doctrine that gave way to Marshall Planand North Atlantic Treaty. He fired Gen. Douglas MacArthur for insubordination over controversy on U.S. Far East policy.

The Philippine Postal Corporation will issue a set of two stamps to commemorate the 50th anniversaries of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI).
